Full Moon
2006

I watch her rise
and picture you
half-asleep
inhabiting somewhere
between night and day
my cold empty space
at your side.

Only yesterday
we stripped by the shore
diving and swimming
through reeds
tasting sweetness
into clear water
below ripples
pink granite
softened with emerald silk
playing king and queen
under a summer sun
on Neptune’s throne.

And driving home
bright as a headlight
searching for you
leaving a dream
already in tomorrow
whispering stories
about you and me.
